Down in the speakeasy, carefully hidden from outsiders, tobacco smoke blurred every silhouette. Out of the muffled darkness escaped a fascinating vapour of boggy whiskey, laced with hesitant hints of warm vanilla.

Under the heavy lid of smoke, glances became fleeting, jaws tightened, and everyone held their breath. You could feel the tension building.
