Ernest Hemingway stayed in Stresa during First
Mondial War, recovering from a injury in the
luxurious Hotel des Iles Borromees.
The suite where he stayed, number 106, is now
named after him. During this stay he wrote
“Farewell to arms”, where Lake Maggiore
landscape is so well described. He was then back
to Stresa in 1927, and 1948, confirming his love
for this town. The scent we dedicate him, whose
name is taken after the protagonist of a famous
short story of him, smells rough and rude, still
romantic and passionate, like the roaring life he
led.
