Mutis – Nueva Granada is the first brand of Artistic Perfumery designed and created by Hanssen Diaz, a young Colombian artist to celebrate the sumptuous and supremely rich botanical heritage of his land, known at the time of the Spanish Conquest with the evocative name of Nueva Granada.
The name Mutis was chosen in honor of Celestino Mutis, the 18th century botanist who, on behalf of the King of Spain, surveyed and catalogued the vast, and hitherto unknown, botanical heritage of those mysterious and fascinating lands.
The fragrances of the Mutis – Nueva Granada collection ooze the languid and sensual atmosphere of those equatorial territories: that feeling of suspension of time and expansion of space immortalized by Nobel Prize for Literature winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez, also a son of Colombia. Thanks to the Magic Realism which pervades through his work, Marquez made his home country popular around the whole world.
Mutis – Nueva Granada makes a bold entrance on the Artistic Perfumery scene with six exclusive, persistent and distinctive fragrances.
DELTA, a woody and mysterious fragrance, with the earthy hints of the Iris rhizome, accompanied by notes reminiscent of the darkest forests.
BAHIA, a cosmopolitan perfume that is inspired by the busy past of the port of Buenaventura, a global hub for spices and extracts.
AMARANTO is linked to the Triangle of Coffee and Orchids, the Eje Cafetero, a fertile and productive area in the centre of Colombia. A flowery and fruity bouquet, with strong notes of Vanilla and Orchid.
SELVA NEGRA plunges us into the darkness of the Amazon rainforest. A perfume bursting with sensuality, with floral and amber notes that are as sinuous as the meanders of the Amazon River.
AGUA DE INDIAS dazzling and fascinating like a sunset in the Ciudad Amurallada of Cartagena, it is spicy and aromatic, with notes of the precious Tolu Balsam, a resin that originates from Colombia.
EL DORADO takes us straight to the most famous myth of these lands: a precious and unique perfume. An aquatic and aromatic fougère, which evokes mysterious mists and inestimable sunken treasures.
